The Castle in the Sky


You might wonder why did I call this text “The castle in the sky”… Well, the reason is because I want to describe a Space Fortress, build to protect the Earth against the dangers out there. This castle is not build out of rock but out of titanium, for protection against solid objects, lead, for protection against light radiation and other materials. To construct such a castle it whould take a lot of space launches to bring the materials needed. It also should have weapons against meteorites or comets, or maybe even alliens. For this some nuclear misstles, lasers and hi-traction rockets, to bend the trajectory of a meteor, whould equip the station. This is how I see this space station :
“Very large, with an intense traffic of sheeps between it and the rest of the colonies in the solar system. At the first sign of danger the station goes into red alert and the weapons are ready to fire. With its fleet of 10.000 fighters, it is able to withstand any atack from other civilizations. It also has its own satelites and other kind of probes. The energy for this colossal structure is obtained from the fuzion of hidrogen atoms (just like the sun) or from the reaction between matter and antimatter. It is only inhabited 2% of its total capacity so in case of an emergency it can take a big part of the Earth’s population and leave this solar system and head for Alpha Centaury. It can be man’s last chance of survival and the largest step for conquering space and understanding the laws that make it exist like we see it.”
